Human-focused research group
Human performance in complex operations
HUMAI develops human-centred solutions that integrate advanced and intelligent technologies with human resilience, to enhance performance in complex, time-critical and resource-constrained environments.
Purpose
HUMAI Research is dedicated to improving safety in complex operational environments through research and developing training methodologies and dedicated technological devices and tools.
Our focus originates from commercial aviation and extends to a wide range of complex and multifaceted operational environments. Among its key activities, HUMAI seeks to implement Evidence-Based Training (EBT), emphasising the central role of humans in the decision-making process with the support of advanced technologies.
What we do
-
Human–technology integration
Integrating advanced technologies and artificial intelligence with human capabilities to improve performance, behaviours, actions and decision-making. Technology should augment the human operator, especially in high-complexity operational contexts, and never replace them.
-
Cognitive monitoring
Biometric and biological
Non-invasive, real-time monitoring systems assess operators’ cognitive states, so that technologies can adapt to human mental conditions and capabilities, supporting performance and reducing cognitive overload.
-
Comprehensive data analysis
Large-scale operational data, collected and analysed in real time, provide context-aware insights for dynamic and high-pressure conditions, giving operators accurate, timely and actionable information across the whole decision–action cycle.
-
Advanced training solutions
AI-driven tools for innovative training methodologies, including competency assessment systems and adaptive training programme generators that personalise training pathways on individual performance.
-
Synergistic ecosystem
Training, decision-support tools and intelligent technologies brought together, so that human expertise and advanced systems work in harmony for safer, more efficient and more effective operations.
